Quote from loopingz :If think they should also check hdd free space... If full it would do something like that...

Windows generally doesn't really work properly if system drive doesn't have enough free space.😁

Is it, though? XFG has trailing arm in the rear, and yet it doesn't handle like car with a solid axle :S

Black screen + "Recovered from D3D device error"

Hi,

Started encountering a weird problem today.

When I try to go on track, I get a black screen with some error messages in the chat, which keep repeating every 3-5 seconds. Meanwhile, the large text on the screen cycles between "Regenerating" / "Finalizing" indefinitely.

Closing LFS and re-starting it again fixes this (most of the time).

Here's my "deb.log":

Oh god, the memories, buses were one of first mods made for LFS. There were XFG-based buses back in LFS S1 times (circa 2004)! Can't find those ones on YouTube, unfortunately....

For more realism and to make things interesting, there could also be areas on the outskirts with procedurally generated bumpy tarmac and bumpy dirt, and maybe even some larger scale undulations on dirt.

That sounds like BeamNG's Gridmap V2. :-)

Quote from neonmateo :I was curious if increasing brake disc radius improves stopping power? Sorry if its in wrong thread, there are so many and its kinda confusing.

LFS does not have brake overheating / brake fade (yet?), so, no, stopping power will be limited by tire grip in most scenarios.

Large vented disc brakes might be necessary on twisty tracks in the future if brake fade physics are added.

Quote from scania :there is nothing different with 2T & 4T engine

I can only theorize about this but perhaps it removes valvetrain sound and changes exhaust note/pulses? Not that LFS has much of it to begin with 😀

Although torque curves should be significantly different for 2T vs 4T..

Quote from ACCAkut :The fictional specs I cooked up for this were 300 hp, 725 kg weight, aero somewhere between GT4 and GT3 of comparable size. Engine is a high revving V6, similar to older Formula Renault VQ-based V6s. Suspension wise I kept it with the odd no-antirollbar at the rear just for giggles.

Isn't 725kg impossibly light for such a car? Even lightweight Lotuses are around a ton.

Finally got a laptop that can play most games somewhat well

AMD Ryzen 5 5600H CPU
32GB DDR4-3200 RAM
1TB WD SN750 SSD
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (6GB) GPU
1920x1080 165Hz IPS panel

This feels like a spaceship coming from a work-provided ultrabook that had 8th gen Core i5 with integrated GPU, and sluggish 60Hz display.

Ha, my bad, I have done a brain poop - assumed how all DCT's work based on just a single DCT car that I have ever driven in my life.

Do creepy DCT's creep regardless if they have dry clutches or wet clutches? Wouldn't it cause an extremely fast clutch wear in the first case?

Hi Marty

Cars with automatic gearbox typically don't have a clutch, they have a torque converter which operates it completely different way from a clutch (even though many TCs have a tiny clutch inside for complete lock-up).

Ones that do have a clutch (typically dual-clutch transmissions) usually don't really creep forward, like torque converter automatics do.

Hehe .... Omg omg omg

I have a seat next to me and my cockpit is close to the XF GTI. It's always a goosebump moment when I drive backwards out of the garage in Blackwood and hold myself in the passenger seat to turn over ..... and when i touch the cockpit.

Wow - that setup is insanely cool! Which car is that interior from?

Obviously not a solution, but on a high-DPI monitor (say 4K 22") it won't be nearly as noticeable.
